People are always talking about the numerous persistent myths about gout. These legends are one of the primary causes why gout care quality for this disease has not succeeded over the past decades in particular. Unnecessary information keeps on passing itself over and over, in every generation.
The first myth is contradicted by the fact that gout is not curable. There are many existing websites nowadays who promises to offer gout cures for you for a certain amount of money. Unfortunately, the ugly truth, that 90 per cent of gouty arthritis, is due to a genetic anomaly. This is the reason why gouty arthritis frequently runs in the family. Inherited diseases can't be cured, they can only be managed. The other ten per cent of diseases are termed as secondary gout diseases. These are commonly caused by a few underlying clinical condition.
A few of these diseases may be very severe, such as kidney disease or lymphoma. Only a small group of conditions are actually curable. These conditions are commonly caused by hypertensive medications termed diuretics or too much obesity. If the patient has gout, the physician must check for a secondary origin of gout. If nothing was established, then the patient may have a hereditary disease which can only be controlled, not cured.
The second most common myth is that herbal remedies are better than gout medications. This fact is absolutely no true because using Colchicine for gout, a medication usually used to manage gout, is prepared from the autumn crocus flower's bulb Colchicum autumnale and it is a type of herbal medication that has been utilized for over two millenniums. In spite of this fact, this drug is a highly dangerous substance which causes diarrhoea, nausea, and vomiting in very large percent of patients who are ingesting high doses of it.
'Gout drugs can make your attacks cease right away' is the third myth. Actually, lowering the uric acid mediations may augment gout attack in the short period of time. In due course, during the first six to twelve months they will commonly stop completely. Majority of the patients experience frequent attacks when they initially start taking the mentioned medications. They commonly discontinue taking them thinking that they're not working.
The fourth most common legend is that depriving yourself from beer and sea foods will cure your gout. This speculation is somewhat true but generally speaking, this must be overruled by patients having gout. These foods are considered to have their influence in augmenting the levels of uric acid inside the body. However, staying away from it will only manage or control the attack. It would never cure the disease itself.
