No matter which area of the world you live in or are visiting, if you listen as you move through your neighborhood, you will hear the sounds of music. While the rhythms and instruments that are used may be different from area to area, you are sure to find that music and movement is something that nearly everyone has in common. All ages and all races are likely to enjoy the wonderful sounds of music. Early childhood music may be simple to some and oldies music may be outdated to others but to each person that loves sound and rhythm, music is valuable in some manner.
You can ask any music lover and they are likely to tell you that music has played an important part in their lives since they were very young. Some may even remember enjoying early childhood music when they were toddlers. The experiences that people have with music as they grow up tend to set a pattern in their lives. For a child who had a parent that used music to soothe them into sleeping as an infant, listening to these sounds at bedtime can lead to a very peaceful night of rest, even as an adult.
In some areas of the world, music and movement are a part of rituals that are performed at specific periods of the year or a lifetime. For example, have you seen videos of Indian tribes performing a ceremony? They use the beats of the drums and the chants of their tribe to perform a dance that is very meaningful to everyone involved. This is a form of early childhood music for those in attendance. They will grow to perform these acts on their own and become a part of the music that is part of their heritage.
While there are many genres of music to choose from, nearly everyone has a certain type of music that they enjoy the most. It could be classical music, rock and roll, country, Latin, Arabic, or any other type. No matter what type of music it is, this music will likely be an important part of their lives.
Some may listen to it when they are sad or upset. Others may listen to it to give energy needed to get through a long and difficult day. It could be that different types of music are enjoyed at different times for some people, as they lean heavily on their music choices to cope with problems and give meaning to their life.
There is one thing that stands out in our memories from early childhood, and that is music. There are often times that a certain song brings back memories of instances that occurred many years ago. The sounds of our past are echoed through certain songs and we have a tendency to revisit our past when we hear them.
From early childhood music to the music enjoyed as adults, music and movement are a large part of our lives from birth to death. We learn from music. We grow with music. We become our own person when we listen to our favorite music varieties.
