Queensland is a state in Australia that is home to many major tourist attractions. It is located on the northeast side of the country. The state is ideal for touring as it is within the tropics and has fair weather. The state has a sandy and warm water beach to the east that is a major attraction.
Tourist Attractions
Queensland has a wealth of tourist attractions that make the state very popular with tourists. These attractions are listed below;
• Beaches in Queensland - Some of the popular beach areas in Queensland include the Gold Coast that is known for its lovely beaches, family fun entertainment, night life and Theme Parks. The Sunshine Coast is a string of beach towns from Noosa to Caloundra. They are urban and vibrant with fun and entertainment. Whitsunday Islands is a set of 74 small islands along the Airlie Beach. It is a major tourist attraction and has lovely hotels, water sports and a lot of beach activity. The Fraser Coast is a UNESCO heritage site and is ranked as the world's largest sand island. The Mackay beaches on the other hand are secluded and are a quiet option for those who prefer this. The Bundaberg is a coral island located at the southern side of the state. The island has a wealth of marine wildlife.
• Great Barrier Reef - The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most popular and major attraction for Queensland. It is one of the 7 Wonders of the World. The reef is spectacular and a must visit for anyone touring Queensland. The labyrinth reef stretches underwater and it can be viewed at different places along the beach. The reef can also be better viewed from a helicopter, from a glass base boat or by scuba diving into the sea along the reef. The reef is best seen at the Whitsundays, Townsville and Mackay areas.
• Daintree National Park - This is yet another UNESCO Heritage site. The park has a breath taking scenery of tropical fauna with epiphytic plants, fig bushes and tropical vegetation graced by the clear Mossman River that glides along the boulders. You can take a walk along this lovely river and enjoy the large variety of birds and butterflies. The park is part of the wider Mossman Gorge area that has other lovely tropical scenes.
• Marine Wildlife - The coastline along Queensland also carries a wealth of marine wildlife that is worth a visit. Some of the famous animals in the region include the Migrating Whales that migrate close to the shores between July to November when the winds are strong. The Nesting Sea Turtles are another major wildlife attraction. There are a wide variety of these turtles along the Queensland beach including the green turtle, loggerhead, flat-back and the leather-back.
• Other Attractions - Other attractions in Queensland include the Moreton Bay, Wallaman Falls National Park, the RiverFire festival, Wallaman Falls and the Undara Lava Tubes.
