A safety guide to using late night public transport and staying at cheap london hotel. No matter where you stay, visit or live, knowing certain things is valuable for your stay to be safe. And one thing is that in staying in a cheaper hotel might not always be the best thing, there seems to be more of a crime rate in less expensive areas in the city.
You can always feel free to go to the police at anytime, they're known for their protection of whoever needs them. Also they're eager to help and you'll find them to be friendly but professional and courteous. In this country, you will not be allowed to carry any weapons, and not even pepper spray like in the United States. Make sure to look into their rules before traveling here.
Make sure to always be aware of your surroundings, especially when it's dark. This is a good idea no matter where you are visiting or living. This is a rule of thumb for everyone and every where, no matter who they are, but especially if you're walking alone.
It's a better idea to have others walking with you though. But say you have no choice but to be alone then try to stay where there is a lot of other people. The busier a place the safer usually.
When you will be using a taxi service, make sure the taxi is a licensed one. There are some out there that are not and they are not who you probably should be trusting. You need to be as safe and protected as possible. Even if a cab that's not licensed offers you a deal, it's not worth the chance of you being safe.
When you need to take a bus then try to be with others, and don't be at the bus stop alone if at all possible. And if it's a double decked bus, always try to sit on the bottom rather than the second level. When getting off the bus it's a good idea to have someone meet you at the bus stop rather than walking home alone. If you don't have anyone to meet you and you have to walk alone then maybe getting a taxi would be better. Or if that's not an option you need to walk in well lit areas and where there's a lot of others as well.
Another rule of thumb is to try to always let someone know where you are at, where you're going and about what time you're expected to return home. If you need to take the train, stay where there are lots of others and in a well lit area. And also let someone know which train you are taking there and back.
