World of Epika World of Mythology

Let us set out the journey together through game of Epika which was once reigned by Slavic gods, nowadays almost completely unknown and forgotten, but still gods of our ancestors. We all will have the opportunity to get to know something about ourselves, our abilities and reasons why we behave in some situations like we behave. We will also understand the roots of some of our present customs and traditions. Fairy tales about various fantastical characters and creatures such as Alkonost, Baba Yaga, Koschei the Deathless, Firebird, Zmey (Dragon), songs and tales of legendary heroes such as Russian Bogatyrs, and superstitions about various demons and spirits such as Domovoi, Likho, Vilas (fairies), Vampires, Vodyanoy (water demon), Rusalkas (forest Fairy) etc. Many of these tales and beliefs may be quite ancient, and probably contain at least some elements of old mythical structure, but they are not myths themselves. They lack a deeper, sacral meaning and religious significance, and furthermore they tend to vary greatly among various Slavic populations.

So, let me tell you some words about game of Epika.

Epika is a fantasy real-time strategy game, set in the world which from my perspective very looks like of Tolkien Middleearth. Set in fantasy realm and with more mythical than fantasy with creatures such as Dragons, Fairies, Giants and Baba Yagas it is have strong connection with old Slavic Mythology creatures. You starts out with generated troupes of good alliance (humans, dwarfs, dragons and elves) and your aim is to defend your land from pillaging of chaotic creatures which are coming from east and west. When your army has been destroyed you can rebuild army from your cities by simply click on "build army" button. The game is also totally open ended with a loose structure that you need only fulfil when you wish. My conclusion is that game is not finished at all but have strong capacity to be very playable and interesting game in future. Graphic is the very nice and this is maybe one element in the game done very well, but there is still work to be done. Epika world is shadowy realm of order and chaotic creatures. For now there is no any animated spell casting option with effects, but all actions in the game are presented simply but enough effective and understandable. Like real time Risiko game. You attack, defend, move your units. Elves shoot with bows, dragons fly and attack with fire, dwarfs are strong but slow..... You can also destroy enemy towns and ruin enemy strongholds...

For the end I must say that Epika is giving you freedom to express yourself trough mythology and you can really learn many interesting things which today are almost forgotten.
