Catalogue Printing - About

The concept of catalogue printing has been around for centuries. First established in 613 CE China, the catalogue was developed within the T’ang Dynasty. The fact that catalogues are still continuing today is a sign of their ability to inform and entertain.

Other forms of business marketing seem to be less adept at conveying the volume of information and offer of direct purchase payment than that of the humble catalogue.

By definition a catalogue is a marketing venture, a catalogue of all the products or services a business wishes to advertise for sale purposes.

A catalogue can be between 8 and 1, 000 pages and typically consist of the A4 portrait format size.

They will traditionally employ the four colour process and have an either saddle stitched or perfect bound finishing (as these have proved to be the most popular).

Catalogue Printing - The Benefits of

There are numerous positive qualities surrounding the catalogue and some of these include:

The ease of distribution. Because printing larger volumes of copy will be cheaper per volume than printing a smaller amount, therefore the distribution can be increased and customer circulation widened.

Catalogues also have the advantage being easily packed and stored. Because of their rectangular, flat packaging they are easily transported and delivered.

The non-confronting nature of the catalogue is another big advantage in its favour. The catalogue allows customers to browse through casually and make their selection on the phone. This could be said as an advantage over online sites where certain products are harder to find and payment can be complicated or preemptive. Online sites are also subject to connectivity issues, especially if you were trying to load a particularly large page on say a  mobile device. Paper catalogues do not have this setback  and able to be browsed through at your leisure.

Cost is the most important advantage of catalogue printing over other forms of business marketing.

The low cost of catalogue printing means that businesses can communicate their message to a wide audience for a lower price than if they were approaching a smaller audience. This means a wide distribution base is able to be targeted with presumably a therefore higher chance to procure a sale.

Appearance is another benefit in terms of the catalogue’s ability to inform and entertain. With a range of attractive finishing options a business’ catalogue can provide a sophisticated format for current and potential customers alike.

The Future of Catalogue Printing

Despite the increasing range of digital technology, there is still room in the market for catalogue printing

They remain a useful reference guide for customers and an easy solution for marketing and advertising. Their low cost means businesses can see a higher return on their investment and have a hard copy of their marketing tool.
