You Don't Want To Forget The Outside When Dressing Up Invitations
by Charlotte Jarman(3)
The date is set and the guest list has been decided; now it's time to send out the invitations. Whether you're planning a child's birthday, an elegant dinner party or the wedding of a lifetime, invitations should do more than just provide the time and date of your event. Invitations let your guests know if your event is festive, romantic, casual or formal and helps set the mood for your special occasion. With all of the easy-to-use embellishing products available today, dressing up invitations to reflect the theme of your party is an enjoyable task.
Making invitations special used to be the sole job of a printing company, but crafty party planners know that a plain invitation can be transformed into something truly unique with a little imagination and a small amount of time. You can typically offset the savings for the cost of purchasing the embellishing supplies by using your home computer to make them or by buying pre-printed invitations.
The options for embellishing invitations are as varied as the reasons to send them and most can be accomplished even if you're a crafting novice. Before working on the actual invitations; it is a good idea to practice on plain paper no matter your experience level. Here are just a few of the products available for dressing up your invitations:
Ribbon
Use ribbon to fasten layers of papers together, create playful stripes or elegant bows.
Stickers
Colorful stickers are a great way to personalize a child's birthday party invitation, but don't count them out for adult events. For example, an elegant heart or flower may be just the right touch for a baby or wedding shower invite.
Jewels
Rhinestones, crystals and pearlized beads can be used to add elegant sparkle, a spot of playful color or that extra bit of bling that makes your invitations pop.
Labels
Addressing envelopes aren't the only way labels can be used. For a casual event you could have all of the information printed on a large colorful label, peel and stick it onto a plain card and viola, an instant, personalized invitation.
Glitter
You can get all the shiny, festive effects of glitter without dousing your invitations with white glue and shake-on glitter. You can still have all the charm without the mess of this old-fashioned decoration by using glitter pens, embossing glitter and glitter glue.
The time you spend making invitations special may be some of the most pleasant moments of party planning. You can do this by yourself or even invite family or friends over to help. Either way, dressing up invitations for your special event will be fun, memorable and will give you that sense of pride that comes with turning something plain into something beautiful.
Just one of the many ways to add style to your invitations and letters is by using return address labels. Charlotte Jarman found great return address stickers that not only saved her time, but looked great too.
