Scart Splitter- Using Two Devices

A Scart splitter is a valuable tool when you have to get a video feed to two different devices. The tool allows you to take one video from one device, and then output it to two different devices at the same time. Just like the Scart cable, Scart splitters are needed primarily in Europe, though their use is starting to decline with the invention of new digital methods of sending video. HDMI is an example of one of these new methods. If there are any other options for output, a splitter for something digital would be needed.

However, in cases where Scart input is the only feed available, the Scart splitter will be what you need. This device lets you take input from two different devices, like a TV or a VCR, and send it to a single additional device, like a TV. If the splitter is non-switched, then you can only use one device at a time. When using one of the devices, like the VCR, the other device such as a DVD player, will be on standby mode. Otherwise, the input from the two devices would be crossed together.

If you have a Scart splitter with a switch, then you can freely switch between two different input sources at the same time. This means that you could have a DVD player and a VCR playing video at the same time, and you could switch back and forth. This could be useful for class projects, for example. Without a splitter, using one TV for multiple other devices would be hard. A splitter is really the only way to take a single feed and get two different outputs, which means you need it if that's your aim.

It's also possible to get a Scart splitter that works in the other direction. This means that you can split video to two different televisions as well. It's important to note whether you have male or female leads for the splitter as well. You can have male to male, male to female, or female to male devices. If you get the wrong type of connection, it may not hook up properly. A male connector fits into a female jack, for example. A female connector on a splitter won't fit properly into a female jack. If you buy the wrong kind of connector, you run the risk of having a device that is useless for what you want it for.
