by Adam Stevens(101)
Champagne is a sparkling wine aficionados have come to love starting from the days of kings and royalties. It was used to be produced solely within the Champagne region of France which vividly explains where it got its appellation. The champagne is so much given high respect that ordinary people during those times are not allowed to consume of it.
The grape alone that is used in the making of champagne is of the maximum kind. There is a bylaw that states the grapes must be grown in accordance to appellation rules and in designated plots only. There is an international treaty which jurisdiction the the quality of champagne. Only those passing these values are assured to be of wines that come from the champagne designation. In the US alone, it maintains authoritarian legal statuses for those seeking to produce the sparkling wine and under limited conditions. So stringent is the standard that wines not passing it are not permitted to use the term "champagne" on their produce.
As has been acknowledged before, only French kings and royalties are privileged to drink champagne. It became a symbol of influence and authority during the 17th and up to the 9th century. Nonetheless, as the years went by, it became available even for the masses, but at an exorbitant price. Producers played on the association of the wine to nobles and monarchs. Luxury and celebrations are always associated with champagne.
For this reason champagne is a very exalted wine even to these days. The mentality that you are consuming a wine fit for nobles gives it a certain charm not to mention its superb taste for that matter. So great care must be made to make certain it maintains its excellence and tang. Yes, that's a fact. Improper handling of it will result in its taste losing its charm.
