Scotlands Scenic Driving Routes
by Stella Manson(144)
Scotland is famous for beautiful natural scenery, and the Scottish Highlands top the list. There are dramatic mountains, mysterious lochs and abundant wildlife which can all be seen best by car. Start from Glasgow after selecting from the excellent used cars Glasgow, and take the A82 to the A83 to Inverary. From Inverary there are miles of scenic routes, each with spectacular views and landscapes. Car dealers Glasgow will help you find the route you want.
A road trip to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park starts at Balloch. This is where you enter the national park, and loch cruises are available there. Drive north on A82 along the shores of the loch in one of the used cars Glasgow, and at Tarbet, you can take a detour to visit the Argyll Forest. Continue north through Glen Falloch and turn east on the A85 then the A827 to Killin, an alpine village in the majestic mountains by the Falls of Dochart. Drive back to A85 to climb over the mountains at Glen Ogle.
The trip back to Balloch is just as exciting. Take the A84 to Kilmahog where you take the A821 west. There is a vintage steamship from Trossachs Pier for a cruise on the serene Lock Katrine. Take the A821 to the village of Aberfoyle and continue south on the A81 where you will find A811. At Drymen, take B837 to get back to Loch Lomond from a different direction. Then return to A811 and go south to Balloch.
Central Scotland has gentle rolling countryside where Mary, Queen of Scots lived, and you can follow her footsteps with your selection from used cars Glasgow. From Glasgow take the M876 and exit at Junction 1 and follow the signs to the amazing Falkirk Wheel. A modern engineering marvel you should not miss. In Falkirk, take the A803 to Callendar House, which dates from Roman times. Then you can travel north on M876/A876, see the Kincardine Bridge, and take the A977 to Clackmannan where you will see the ancient Stone of Mannan. Car Dealers Glasgow will give all the information you need.
The A907 will take you to Alloa where Mary, Queen of Scots lived in the Alloa Tower with Lord Darnley, her husband. Follow the A908 to Gartmorn Dam where you can take easy walks and picnic amid the magnificent views of the Ochil Hills. The A91 will take you to the A912 to Falkland Palace where Mary liked to play tennis. Back roads will take you to the island castle where she was imprisoned.
Continue south on M90 to Dunfermline, an earlier capital of Scotland where several Scottish kings are buried. Finally, take M90/A890 along the Forth road and see the famous Forth Rail Bridge. Go west on A904 to A803 to Linlithgow Palace, Mary's birthplace in 1542.
