How To Use Church Banners To Bring In More People
by Viktoria Carrella(28)
A church is a not-for-profit organization, but to stay alive and to stay strong, a church needs to maintain and grow membership. Because most churches operate on very tight budgets, they rely a great deal on word of mouth to bring in new people and hopefully keep them. However, there is one form of advertising that will help you build a name for your church in the neighborhood that will not break the bank, and that is through the use of church banners.
Vacation Bible School
One great way to build membership is through the youth activities. Young parents often seek out a church that offers great programs for their kids, so when you have a great program coming up like Vacation Bible School or a special Halloween event like a Trunk or Treat party, you can use church banners to make the event known. These banners relatively inexpensive ways to advertise, but look professional. The bright, fade resistant colors attract the eyes of those passing by and the graphics are sharp and memorable.
Invite Worshippers For The Holidays
Not all churches are known for their welcoming nature. Make sure passers by know that your church is warm and inviting. Church banners for Easter and Christmas, announcing that all are welcome, will give your church a reputation for being a friendly place to be. A family who comes for a holiday and has a positive experience is likely to return throughout the year.
Hold A Visitors’ Event
Businesses recruiting new employees will hold an open house or a job fair; a church seeking new memberships can do so by hosting a community event. A summer picnic or a fall back-to-school themed game night might be a great way to invite those in the community to come and get to know the church and her members. Church banners can be used to pull people in and the warmth of your members will be enough to keep them.
Does There Have To Be A Reason?
A church needs no specific reason to have a message. The key is to post a message regularly to keep from becoming invisible to those who pass by frequently. It is easy to have a few church banners made up, to be rotated out seasonally or at the will of the church members. Brightly colored banners announce, “All are welcome,” “Smile. God loves you,” and “Let there be peace on earth.” These banners roll up easily for storage, and look brand new each time you pull them back out.
