Red, Silver and Green Earrings
These festive little earrings can be whipped up in a very short time and are a fun way to show off your holiday spirit. You will need:
72 - Size 8/0 Seed Beads - RED
58 - Size 8/0 Seed Beads - SILVER
38 - Size 8/0 Seed beads - GREEN
2 - 5 mm Hematite Stars
Nymo Size "D"
Thread Heaven
2 Pcs. French Coil - 10 mm Silver
Clear nail polish
Set of Earwires - SILVER
1. Start the first row with RED, making a Brick Stitch ladder.
2. Continue the next five rows SILVER, GREEN, RED, SILVER and GREEN, reducing each bead row by one bead. Your six finished rows should be
q 7 RED beads in the first (bottom) row
q 6 SILVER beads in the second row
q 5 GREEN beads in the third row
q 4 RED beads in the fourth row
q 3 SILVER beads in the fifth row
q 2 GREEN beads in the last (top) row
3. With the thread coming out of the top of the last GREEN bead (added on the top row), thread the French Coil onto the needle and pass the thread down through the other GREEN bead (on the top row).
4. With the French Coil making a U-shaped loop at the top of the last row, tie off the thread or secure it by weaving back through the beads. Cut the thread.
5. Pass the thread through the first RED bead on the first (bottom) row and tie the end to the edge of the thread to secure. Use a tiny drop of clear nail polish to hold.
6. Place 25 RED beads onto the thread and then pass the needle back up through the last RED bead at the other end of the first (bottom) row, forming a loop.
7. Pass the needle down through the second-to-last RED bead (at end of row) in the row and place 20 SILVER beads onto the thread.
8. Pass the needle back up through the second RED bead (at the beginning of row).
9. Pass the needle down through the third RED bead (at the beginning of row) and place 12 GREEN beads on the thread.
10.Pass the needle back up through the third-to-last RED bead (at end of the row).
11.Pass the needle down through the RED bead at the center of the row.
12.Place a SILVER bead, a star bead and a SILVER bead on the thread.
13.Pass the thread back through the star, making a loop around the second SILVER bead in the sequence.
14.Pass the thread up through the first SILVER bead in the sequence and then through the RED center bead. Caution: Do not pull too tight or the star will sit crooked. Just barely snug the thread up.
15.Tie the thread or weave through the beads to secure.
16.Add an earwire to finished piece to complete.
