The Economy, are We Missing Opportunities for Fun with the Sun or Just Blowing It?

Our country and world economy has been cause for concern these last few years. Decisions from the years gone by and the recent past are catching up to us now and we are paying for them.
Failures and bad decisions may be regretted and they are also big opportunities. Many times people have great ideas that they don’t bring forth because they are not needy or desperate enough. Why try when all is going well, right? When people feel there isn’t much to lose they will go for it. Some of these desperation ideas have been our greatest inventions.
The need for energy is not going to go away. We all use computers, IPods, Droids, laptops, heat, air conditioning and much much more. Many of these devices make our lives easier and we would really have a tough time getting along without them. These devices all take energy. The best kind of energy is easily accessible and kind to our world. We are just now starting to take advantage of the sun and the wind. We all know that the sun has plenty of energy and without it most other energies would not exist. That being said we have barely touched the potential for solar energy or even wind for that matter.
Back when solar panels first came out they had a low efficiency rate, it was in the single digits. They could only use one color of the sun’s rays. Now they use three colors so the efficiency rating has gone up. We also use it to help with one of our biggest expenses, hot water. Solar thermal panels help to reduce this cost greatly. We also use solar panels on cars. Solar panels have changed, they are not just heavy glass panels, now we have thin film panels that are very light and are flexible in the way we use them.
The sun produces enough energy in a day to power the planet for a year. So while people are out of work hopefully they are feeling desperate enough to bring those ideas out that will improve solar and other readily available energies like wind. Then let’s hope that we can all have the sense to get these ideas produced in our country to get people back to work doing something that is good for all of us, the environment and will help our country for generations to come as the energy of the past has helped. We can make our world a better place. History has shown that we can do it. Everyday people have invented things like the Cotton Gin, the Segway and more have proved that.
The wind and the sun are ready to be used. The question is are we going to have fun with the sun and take the opportunities or just blow them?
