How to Propose on Thanksgiving--3 Unique Ideas

It’s that time of year again. Ah, Thanksgiving. The time to pay attention to everything that we’re grateful for in our lives. The time to stress out about all of the Christmas gifts that you would buy for your loved ones, if only the economy weren’t so bad and money weren’t so tight and turkeys weren’t so darn expensive and did I mention your girlfriend has been eyeing Katie Holmes’ diamond Tacori engagement ring? (Perhaps tis the season to go vegan?) I’ll give you a tip on the ring area later. For now, read on for suggestions on how to make your proposal the most memorable moment ever, next to the actual “I do,” of course.

1.)  List the reasons why you are grateful for your girlfriend. Cut the list into strips of paper and put them in a container. When she has finished reading all of the reasons, present her with the engagement ring. Tell her that you would appreciate if she would spend the rest of her life with you.

Make it extra unique: If she has a favorite childhood cartoon or TV show, find a vintage lunchbox to put your list in.

2.)  Plan a date with your girlfriend to volunteer together at a soup kitchen. Nothing says “shared values” like helping others as a team. When you’ve finished serving food to those in need, share a meal of your own and surprise her with a Tacori diamond ring for dessert.

Make it extra unique: Find a charity organization in a city that you’ve always wanted to visit together. Now you have extra justification for taking a holiday road-trip every year!

3.)  If you plan on proposing during a future Thanksgiving, start a Thanksgiving garden six months ahead of time. Plan your garden together and share the workload. There’s little else more satisfying than getting your hands dirty together and watching something grow that the two of you have created as a team. (Hello, metaphor!) When the holiday rolls around, surprise your girlfriend by tying a Tacori engagement ring to one of the plants and tell her she’s in charge of collecting those specific vegetables.

Make it extra unique: Sneak out the night before and pick a vegetable that isn’t too squishy on the inside. Cut into it just enough to be able to place the ring inside. When it’s time to prep the veggies for dinner, ask her to slice that one and watch her expression when she discovers her hidden gem!

Now that you have the starting point, run an internet search on vintage lunchboxes, local soup kitchens or Thanksgiving gardens and you’re good to go. And here’s a tip from me to you. If you’re still feeling overwhelmed in the ring department, you can’t go wrong with Tacori diamond rings. Feel free to share these ideas!
