Still Looking for a Way to Counteract Your Computer's Slow Speed Networking?

The general American public is often baffled by the question of better, faster, stronger internet and Ethernet connections. And so was the rest of the World until someone decided develop Powerline Networking.

Powerline networking is one of several ways to connect the electronic components like computers printers, televisions and gaming systems in your home. It uses the electrical wiring in your house to create a network via a device called Powerline Ethernet Adapters.

Our cousins in Europe generally refer to Powerline Adapters as Homeplugs and they are very familiar with its use. Like many other expressions between Europe and North America, there are terms different for the same meaning; Trunk vs. Boot, Big-Rig vs. Lorry, Pub vs. Bar, Soccer vs. Football and of course, Powerline Adapter vs. Homeplug just to name a few.

Powerline is the technology; Homeplug is a standard or Brand name for the Powerline technology. So in reality, Homeplug “IS" the correct name for those plug-in networking devices we sometimes see…and more times than not, overlook. And why is that? It is not as though those devices are hideous bulky mechanisms that we keep hidden away behind the desk or in the skeleton closet.

Ok…well maybe a couple of those devices deserve to be locked away for failing to satisfy the local Sheriff of coolness and good taste, but that can be said about many things; Including my latest self-portrait.

More than likely, Powerline Adapters are often forgotten about by their owners because they are so simple, easy to use and as reliable as a diesel engine.  So ultimately, after the Honeymoon has ended, we tend to forget they are even there. Just like the corded telephones (remember those?); Abused, Ignored and Forgotten but never a dropped call or out of service.

This brings up a question that many have asked me in the past. And that is what exactly got me started alone this line anyway. Simple, like many who have embraced the various concepts of this technology age, I love to be entertained by the many gadgets that are currently in my home and business. The one element that usually put an end to my second child amusement was sporadic and slow wireless coverage.

That all changed when a relative from Great Britain came to visit. He kept in contact with his family via my in home networking system. That’s short for “Wireless Router".  But when the constant “Buffering" problem pledged us to the point of a second Revolutionary War during the second week of his visit he purchased, as a peace offering, a Powerline Adapter for my home. Well actually he purchased it for himself. I just held kept for safe keeping after he left…and I am glad I did.

So what exactly what is a Powerline Adapter? What exactly was that devices that bought peace to Bunker Hill and has changed the way I now tie in my networking solutions?

Powerline Adaptersare networking devices that are based on the concept of “No New Wires" and no drivers because they are operating system independent.  These devices allow you to turn any electrical power outlet into a high-speed Internet connection without the need for wires or the addition of wireless devices and related, and sometime sporadic, wireless signals. And because of the no new wires concept, they will not add additional cost to your electric bill. Since I am considered my many as “Cheap" (I say Penny-wise), no additional cost to my electric bill was a very big deal for me.

The one common theme among all of the networking choices is the need for power…and more power. And for those that prefer Wireless Routers, keep in mind that a wireless solution may certainly avoid wires at up to 10 times slower speeds than a Powerline Adapter and it still has to be plugged in somewhere. With the addition of a Powerline Adapter that power access point can then tie that wireless network into the home's entire Powerline Network thus allowing the best of networking coverage.

It’s a win-win from any angle. So if you are looking for that perfect way to tie in your computers, printers, servers, gaming consoles, laptops, notebooks  and  that occasional cranky cousin…Powerline Adapters – The true plug and play for networking and peace of mind!

He has a Degree in Chemistry, spent a few years as an Officer of Marines and is currently seen as one of the experts of California Unemployment Insurance Laws, Procedures and Policies. Xavier is also referred to as an expert of Wireless Networking applications and solutions.

Xavier has a small business at http://www.powerlineadaptersite.com which deals strictly with the educational and supply needs of the average novice looking to expand into Ethernet Networking. A least a small picture of his likeness would be justified…however since this is a family orientated site that would be highly ill advised.
