A birth is always special, and many people like to mark the occasion by offering gifts to babies and their proud parents to commemorate this important event. It can be tricky to work out what to buy for babies, who are unlikely to really appreciate anything other than their mother's milk, a kiss and maybe a cuddle. Equally, it can be hard to work out what the parents might like as a present, as bringing up a child can mean a lot of hard work. This article details some suggestions for personalised baby presents which can mark this special occasion.
The gift of life is typically met with the gift of... gifts! When we talk about baby presents and gifts, we don't always mean present for the babies themselves, in fact they're normally for the lucky parents. If you want to be practical and boring, then you might want to consider gifting them some of the items they are going to need a lot of over the next few months. That's nappies, clothes and toiletries among other things. The baby is unlikely to be over the moon with a new outfit or nappy supply, and although parents are likely to be grateful for your consideration, they're hardly going to get excited about these everyday items.
Babies can only have a very limited understanding of presents, so you might have to wait a few years before you can expect a thank-you letter. One way to make gifts last a long time, is to personalise them with special messages, names or dates. This can help an everyday item turn into a cherished possession which will always remind parents and baby about that special time. There are all sorts of gifts which can be personalised, in all sorts of different ways.
Clothes are just one item which is easily personalised. You could consider adding the baby's name, their birthdate or a personal message to a nice item of clothing. Once the baby is done wearing it, you might find it becomes an item of clothing to be worn by a teddy bear or stuffed toy. Alternatively it could be a teddy bear or stuffed toy with an embroidered message. Bedtime toys like these will often be cherished for many years, so personalising it with a special birth-time message is a great way of helping parents to commemorate this special time in their lives.
Alternatively you might consider buying a present for the parents, especially the mother, who has just been through what might be the strangest nine months of her life. Going without alcohol for nine months might have proved hard, so you could consider treating her to a bottle of champagne to celebrate. You can even customise wine bottles with your own personal message, and this could help an empty bottle become a cherished family item.
