Am I 53 or 18 years old with 35 years of experience?

I was born on 5th September, Friday, 1958. It being a Janmashtami day, I was named Krishan Kumar by my parents.

Whenever my birthday comes I start wondering why do we call our self as old (53 years old) and why we blow off the candles on that day. I personally feel blowing off the candles is not the right thing as per our mythology. Producing darkness is not what ours Vedas taught us. Instead we should light the candle and not blow it off.

If someone asks me, on my birthday, how old I have become and if I say 53 years, it would give me a feeling that I am growing old and will give negative vibrations.

From Vedic perspective we do not grow old.

Our body is made up of physical, mental, intellectual, ego and spiritual components. Only the physical body grows old with time. At the age of 18 we stop growing vertically and all our organs are well developed.

After the age of eighteen mentally we gain more experience and intellectually we sharpen our intelligent. We also gain more humility (become less egoistic) and become more spiritually young with age.

Therefore out of five components of our body we only grow old physically. From all other points of view we only grow young. The net result is that we grow young and not old with time after the age of 18.

Therefore tomorrow I will be 18 years old with 35 years of experience.
