Where Did The Little Boy Go

by Christine Strawn
Strawn's Country Garden

From the country roads of a small town
Where FFA and Band are at the top of a young boys list.
Where his first love was a 77 dodge slant six.
A mother smiles with pride as she watches her son grow.

As the years go and awards grow
Her heart starts to over flow
Before she knows what happens he is all grown
Diploma in hand he takes on a grown world.

As she sits by the window pane watching the rain
Her heart is full of pain.
Threw all of her pride and love
She worries about another mans war far away.

He was just a young boy who loved his fishing pole.
Now he is a grown man fighting a war that's hard to understand.

Oh Where did the baby go but into a young boy?
Oh where did the young boy go but into a young man?
Oh where did the young man go but to be a hero in the hearts of all who love him?

As she watches and wait's a mothers prayer is always the same.
Dear Lord please watch over, guide and direct my young man.
Please dear Lord bring my son home safely into my arms again.
