Stream Hulu in Canada

Did you know that Hulu is still adding shows from 30 Rock, House, Family Guy and Glee? Every time a new episode of The Daily Show, Bones, or Body of Proof airs, they post it the morning after. Even the most popular shows in America like The Office, Castle, American Dad, Archer, and Grey's anatomy are available on Hulu list of THOUSANDS of TV shows, and you can even subscribe and get notified when new episodes air. This is all fine and dandy if you're in The USA, but for users outside of The USA it's kind of disappointing. Especially for Canada which is so close, yet so far. The good news is that there is a legitimate way to stream Hulu in Canada.
The bit of technology is called a VPN. It's like private membership to club in The USA, and you can borrow an IP address from a computer in The US. That means that when you sign into this computer in the USA, you Canadian IP address is obsolete and you temporarily use an American IP address to access and stream video from the Hulu site. This is really the only reliable and guaranteed way to stream Hulu in Canada.
This works for Canadians as well as Americans traveling to Canada. For Americans with Hulu accounts it's a bit easier because you can use an American credit card to pay for the Hulu Plus account - for Canadians it may be a bit more involved (but just a bit) to stream Hulu in Canada with a Hulu plus account. While it's very possible to use a free Hulu account in combination with a VPN, who would want to do that and limit your access to Hulu's TV series? For shows that are running for five or six years, a Hulu Plus account means that you can get 300 to 600 episodes of a single show! The choice is up to you, but here's how to get a Hulu Plus account in Canada.
Hulu sells gift certificates that you can buy on Amazon, Ebay, or other gift certificate sites. You can have them delivered, but it's preferable to just get the codes sent to you inbox and you can get a Hulu Plus membership in this way. That means you'll have full access to the site when you stream Hulu in Canada.
On a side note; In case you haven't heard the news, Hulu may be coming to Canada. However, I wouldn't expect too much from Hulu Canada, even if it ever does come across the border, it will probably be a few years before it catches up to speed with the American version. Like when Netflix finally opened up it's Canadian branch a year or two ago, many were disappointed to find out that the library of movies was much smaller than the American version. This will most likely be the same case for Hulu. Also, this doesn't solve the problem of those who already have Netflix and Hulu account trying to access their stuff when they travel to Canada. This is why a VPN is the preferred way to
stream Hulu in Canada (and Netflix too!).
