Student Nightlife on a Budget

Being a student can mean that times are hard when it comes to money. But that doesn't mean that you have to stay in, bored to death, with your fellow students. In fact you can have a number of great nights out. Getting together and having fun is a great way to help you socialise, meet new people and just generally relax.

It is inevitable that whilst you are a student, there may be a number of nights spent in clubs, pubs and bars. This usually ends up being expensive, but it does not have to be. During the week there are a large number of places that hold specific student nights. These will generally include cheap drinks and cheap entry. Some places even have offers such as 1 pound entry and 1 pound drinks! Remember to get there early as well as the price of entry to a club tends to increase as it gets later. If venturing to the pub, make sure you take note of which ones give student discounts and what times their happy hours are. This way you know that you can plan ahead and won't be spending an arm and a leg for a drink!

Of course there will be other nights where you simply want to relax and chill out. Wednesday nights are perfect for this as the majority of cinemas will offer 2 for 1. This way you can get together with friends and split the costs. You should be able to watch a film for about 3-4 pounds, and remember you could also bring some snacks with you as this is where all of your money will go if you buy them at the cinema!

Another great night out for students is to go along to your local bingo hall. You may have preconceptions of a dingy old hall, full of elderly folk, but this is totally wrong. Bingo has become hugely popular amongst the young and has been re-invented. It is a great place to meet people and socialise. Look for offers as many bingo halls will have nights with cheap games, 2 for 1 on games and drinks, and there are generally cheap drinks anyway, plus there is even the chance to win a cash prize, now what better way to spend a night out?

Another great way to spend the evening is to get together with you fellow housemates and cook a meal. It is likely that many of you will have been eating cheap and dull meals, simply to save money, but if you club together with your housemates and go to the supermarket, you will find that you can get a lot more for your money. Even spending 2-3 pounds each will be enough and you could even get a nice bottle of wine to go with it! You can all help out and have fun whilst doing it, and then chill out for the rest of the evening.

So, being a student doesn't mean that you have to miss out. You simply have to plan ahead and budget, and even if you don't, it's all part of being a student eh!?
