Ways to Keep Your Child Entertained This Summer

The Summer Holidays are a time that nearly every single child or teenager will be looking forward to, no more school or college, just 6 weeks of pure bliss. But how on earth do you keep them entertained for the whole 6 weeks? Going out with them every day is tiring, can be extremely expensive and simply may not be possible. It may then be time for you to think of some great indoor activities for them to do.

Many children or teenagers love to play computer games, so why not arrange for them to have friends over and rent/buy a new game. It means that they can have fun with their friends whilst also keeping them entertained when they are on their own. It has the added bonus of keeping them out of your hair for hours on end! As it is important that your child keeps fit and healthy, try and find games that keep them on the move. Today you can get interactive games on many consoles that allow them to be moving around whilst playing.

You could try to play games with your children yourselves. Why not try playing traditional games like bingo with them. You could make playing bingo even more exciting for them by letting them design the cards, having prizes for the winners, and even by trying different varieties of the game. You could also try and make it educational by giving them sums in order to tick off the numbers, e.g. by calling out 7x2 instead of 14. This way they can still be learning but without knowing it!

You could try playing card games with them as there are so many different games to play. Searching online you will be able to find instructions for almost every card game you can think of. Again, as it is hard to keep children/teenagers concentration, you could give them incentives for playing. Perhaps have prizes or privileges for the winner?

Board games are a classic and great way to keep children entertained. Games like Monopoly, Cluedo and Twister are all games that children will love. Plus with games like Monopoly, it will keep them busy for hours.

A treasure hunt is an activity that all children will love. It takes a bit of preparation but will be something that they will thoroughly enjoy. Hide clues all around the house and lead them towards a prize of your choice. Again this could be something physical or could be a privilege such as extra time to watch TV, staying up later etc.

Whatever you decide to do with your children, make sure that you have fun whilst doing it. Get involved with the activities yourself and you may just find that it is not just the kids that are being entertained.
