by Theresa Jordan

Discus Fish are gorgeous pets to have but understanding their environment and understanding how to keep them happy, wholesome and breeding can be a massive job for a beginner or even for someone who has been a discus fish lover for a even though. If you are a beginner or have not had significantly success with discus fish, no worries because you will have all of the info that you need for success.

What is the Origin of Discus Fish

Discus Fish are called the "The King" of tropical fish. They originate from the Amazon River and surrounding rivers and lakes. Discus Fish gets their name from the shape of their body. Their bodies are disc-shaped. They are part of the cichlid loved ones but they grow significantly bigger in size. They like deep water and you will should get a huge aquarium to make them happy.

They're quite sociable fish and they like in a groups. It is typical to have least 6 discus fish inside the tank at one time. You will have far better results if you maintain them grouped together. This is very good for a couple of reasons. By having a group is a great approach to see if they will partner up and breed and it also keeps them from misbehaving.

1 thing that I have discovered about them is that they search for food all day long. It is perfectly fine to feed them a couple of times a day. Ensure not to feed them a lot more than five times a day since you do not desire to over feed them.

Discus Fish Colors

One of the things that I have found so distinctive about them is that you can alter the color of them by the food that you feed them or with hormones. Most owners and pet stores will feed the fish food that can alter their colors like beet juice, shrimp, paprika, and lobster roe. If you feed your fish foods that can alter their color, you will need to continue or their color will slowly fade away.

Yet another way to get your discus fish to change colors is via hormones. The perceptions is that the much more colorful the fish is, the much more likely a person is going to obtain it. As with feeding fish to create their change color, hormone -treated fish will also begin to lose their color as soon as the hormones quit.

Keeping your Discus Fish Happy

Keeping Discus Fish could be a job. The secret to having the happiest, healthiest discus fish is to make sure that their water is clean. Unclean water will make the fish stressed and it can cause illness. They're extremely shy and are sensitive to loud noises. For the optimal setting in the aquarium, buy stones, corals and plants to ensure that they are able to rest and be able to hide. They're extremely sensitive and you need to keep them out of stressful situations. It is also a very good notion to put them in a quiet location in the home.

In conclusion, discus fishes are lovely to have inside your aquarium. They do call for a small a lot more function to maintain them pleased but if you do you will have lovely, pleased, healthy long living discus fish
