Many religious practices and rituals have often been promoted as the total truth with all else being labelled as being wrong or misguided. The truth as it is often loosely labelled, is usually delivered as being special to them, and the untruth exclusive to others. The fact is that we are born into a world that is so theosophically fractured and disagreeable on what constitutes truth or the right path, that its no wonder many of us are frequently questioning or delineating what it is we believe and why we believe it in the first place.
The facts clearly indicate that a majority of people on the planet do not fully appreciate the difference between a 'belief' about what is accepted to be truth, and a 'knowing' that experientially gives them direct evidence of it. Belief concerns the experiences and opinions of other people within an historical context of supposed events; so then a belief clearly could be defined as a set of experiences that were experienced in history by others and seen and interpreted through their eyes. Directly experiencing something then results clearly from the knowing aspect.
Modern man for the most part, has been strongly influenced by religion and has accepted this as the right way of living or the truth. In most societies these structures were necessary and functional in helping groups of people to live and indeed survive unitedly. However any fundamental approach in life whether it be religious or anything for that matter, is limited and needs to develop further. The inundation of new trains of thought are evidence enough that new spiritual paradigms threaten the existing societal paradigms.
Christian paradigms and off shoots arising from differences of opinion within the church are a good example of this. We witness this all over the planet right now with the bloody conflicts and religious wars that seem to appear everyday in our media. Further complications arise when we see religious factions within major religions proclaim they are representing their faith or belief system yet seem to oppose the fundamental premise of the doctrine involved. When the truth demands the top spot, the need to be right or be viewed as being right, can complicate what the truth actually is.
If it is demonstrated that the truth is indeed a commodity that is assuaged to appease the strongest, then in effect it isn't really the truth. There still remains to this day a continued drive by many incumbent powers that be to maintain their prominent position in being the espousers of truth.
So what do we do with this? Do we merely take a side and blindly believe the rhetoric, or do we seek new ways of approaching these complex issues and ways of living? Being mindful that you are not entirely aware of all the facts is a sound place to start. You move closer to the truth when you begin to become aware that you are not.
In a world so caught up in finding the 'truth' we often fail to see the intrinsic value of finding the 'untruth'. We need to go through life with the attitude to being open to possibilities and to discovering new ways of thinking.
Safety mechanisms are commonly present in a lot of incumbent systems and religions that disallow anyone to question their authenticity or mandate to the truth. To even begin to penetrate the secrets within these structures is something that is rarely achieved successfully by many at all The survival of these structures and their continued relevance in a modern world depend upon it. Some of the most horrid and indeed inhumane events in human history have happened as a result of this.
Self serving philosophies and belief systems fail to see the larger picture and the incredible disservice they do to the advance of human consciousness and new ways of reasoning and living.
How ironic is it that on a planet with countless numbers of leaders we see so little leadership in such issues. These ego based spiritual paradigms will continue to hold us back as a species unless we are ready to question life and look for possibilities independent of their limiting definitions and comprehensions of what it is to be human. Go find your truth and untruth - just make sure you know the difference.
