Caring For Cockatiels ~ Part three

In this lesson we'll learn about some things that your cockatiel can eat besides it's usual seed and gain needed nutrients and vitamins.

Suitable Foods:
  Fruit Juice with no sugar
  Dry Bread, whole wheat crackers
  Cooked potatoes and pasta (neither can be hot)
  Lean meat
  occasional yogurt
  Fresh vegetables and fruit (no cabbage, avocados,
  or citrus fruit)
  Sprouted seeds
  Rowan berries or millet seed for added nutrients
 
Not Suitable Foods:
  Pretzels and chips (greasy/deep fried foods)
  Chocolate, candy, cookies
  Alcohol and coffee
  Any type of chemicals

It is important your cockatiel gets a proper diet and a variety of foods to keep it healthy and away from disease.

**Remember - If your pet consumes any type of poisonous material or has a reaction to any food contact your local veterinary clinic immediately.

These foods should help keep your cockatiel safe from disease and help him/her grow into a strong adult bird.
