Thankful...
by Arthur JohnsonChildren of the Lord Outreach Ministries
In Chicago, I found a church where I could release all of the hurt, shame and pain I had built up inside. These spirits had a root on the inside of me. I went to the altar and kneeled down one Sunday and I gave my life over to Jesus Christ. And for some reason, when everyone else had left the altar, I could not move. The Pastor of the church told his ministers to leave me there until God said it was time for me to get up. I kept praying to God to help me and thanking Him for His mercy.
After awhile I stood up and repeated the sinner’s prayer of repentance with the Pastor of the church. My face was full of tears and my heart felt like it was splitting in two. After many Bible studies and church sermons, God has restored my life back to normal. I have been clean from drugs for five years. God sent me a wife. We are moving into a new apartment next month. We have a few dollars in the bank. Our loved ones are happy to see our progress and faith in Jesus.
I have formed a ministry which helps the homeless, nursing home and prison residents. God brought me thru a lot in order for me to help someone else. I want to tell everyone about the goodness and mercy of God. Prayer changes things.
On May 2, 2010 five years have passed since that train trip from New York to Chicago. I am just thankful for God giving me a second chance. I give God all of the Honor and Glory!
