Cherokee by Walela

by Robert Greyeagle

Walela is a trio consisting of Rita Coolidge, Pricilla Coolidge, and Pricilla's daughter,Laura.  The have Cherokee blood running through their veins  Many of their songs are sung in the Cherokee language.  This one is in English.  Walela is Cherokee for Hummingbird.  It speaks of the history of the Cherokee people, especially of the ancient ones.  The Cherokee have inhabited North America for many thousands of years.  When Moses was leading the Israelites through the desert, the Cherokee were in America.  The Cherokee were the first Native Americans to create an alphabet and have a written language.  They were literate when many whites could not read or write.

I was unable to post the video on Blogz, but if you would like to see the video, please log "Cherokee Walela" on your search engine.  That will take you to the video on You Tube.  It is well worth seeing.

Thank you, Linda! I am truly proud of Walela because they are Cherokee and have become international stars. They, like me, have not lost touch with their heritage, and yet retaining and being proud of our American heritage. Check out my videos relating to the Cherokee. Blessings.

Thanks, Kathleen.  Actually, the Cherokee were literate, having their own alphebet and could  read and write the Cherokee language when many whites during that time could not.    Blessings, my friend.  Walk in peace.
