I Had a Heart Attack - Well, Praise the Lord!
by Michelle Mackin(54)Blogz.org Higher Level Blogging
Well, praise the Lord, I’ve had a heart attack and I’m here to talk about it!
The doctors have been saying ever since I was born that I was going to die. I was born about two-and-a-half months premature, and the doctors said I would never make it. When I was only eight years old, I went into a coma for about two weeks and the doctors said I was going to die. I was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes when they discovered that my blood sugar was at 1,000! The doctors said I was going to die. When I was pregnant with my twins, the doctor told me to have an abortion, that the children and I would die.
So, all my life the doctors have been telling me one reason after another why I was going to die. I’ve heard it all. Nevertheless, here I am - by the grace of God, alive and well, happily married, and the proud mother of three children, and the grandmother of three beautiful grandchildren to boot.
Last year was not a particularly good year. I experienced several falls, which resulted in broken wrists and ribs. But, I’m alive! I didn’t think it could get any worse after that, but then, this year… the heart attack.
Well, praise the Lord!
The Bible tells us to “thank God in all things for this is his will concerning you in Christ Jesus.” Notice, the Word doesn’t say to thank him “for” all things, but “ in” all things. That means that I don’t have to like what happens to me or even thank God for what happens to me, but I do need to be thankful regardless of what happens to me.
In the book of Romans, the Apostle Paul teaches us that “All things work together for the better for those who love the Lord and who are called according to his purpose.” So, no matter what happens God is still large and in charge! He doesn’t abandon us. Jesus said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Thank you, Jesus!
OK… so I have had a heart attack. However, when I think about what my Lord and Savior went through when he died for me upon the cross on Calvary, my little heart attack pales in comparison. They say that when a person dies by crucifixion that it so traumatizes the body that the heart actually explodes! Jesus died of a broken heart and he did that for you and for me.
Thank you, Jesus! Thank you for paying the ultimate sacrifice so that I could find forgiveness in your love. And… thank you for the life you have given me… one day at a time.
Jesus died of a broken heart for you and me.

You are a brave woman. You know how to use the strength of God, the way we are meant to. God has more than enough strength for all of us, we only need to partake of it. No matter what any one here on earth says- you will not die until your job here is finished. I know God is with you.- EllaRespond to this comment

Thank you Ella,
It is funny because I keep telling Mark that I want to be with Jesus, but not until I have finished the work here He wants me to do. As far as that ugly worm fighting all this, he is a liar and has no authority over God.

Statistics show twice as many woman die from heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular diseases compared to forms of cancer. Thank you so much Polly,
I have to admit however, that it is the Lord that gives me the will and determination to live. He must still have work for me to do here and that I cannot ignore.

IN all things - so aptly put - that doesn't mean that we will not go through "things" that is how He proves His faithfulness over and over and how we grow "character" (fruit of the Holy Spirit) gifts are gifts fruit show growth and we all so much want that growth. Praying for you - knowing this is a challenging time for you guys! Love you, O, too, am praising the Lord that you are still with us! MarijoRespond to this comment

Michelle,Got your email, glad to hear you're OK. I know quite a bit about heart problems with my SVT, palpitations, and such. It's certainly not like a sore arm or sprained ankle, is it? And yes, the Savior is there always. I felt him there in my two weeks of lying in the hospital after cancer surgery and the year of chemo and radiation after, then the various side effects I've had over the last seven years since. It certainly makes us understand how fragile and weak we are and how we have to do His bidding or .... well, die? Hmmmmmm. To Him, what we do for others and how we live our lives is serious business. Well, I hope you're feeling better. You certainly have the right perspective. Let me know if you want some heart-health suggestions. My wife has prescribed all kinds of food and supplements, etc. for me. I'll share. Peace!Respond to this comment

Thanks Jeff,
Sounds as though we have some physical battles that the Lord uses to His glory. I don't plan on giving up until the day he calls me. I would also love to hear about your wifes heart-health suggestions. You can email them to me at my email address. I am more apt to recieve them there sooner.
Love, hugs and blessings to you and yours,
Michelle

Well, Michelle, I'm glad you're around to relate this experience. And you've set a wonderful example by your grateful attitude. You know it's not natural to respond like that to a trauma. That tells me there is something about your spiritual heart that no attack on your physical heart can touch. ~mogama~Respond to this comment

I truly believe that my heart belongs to Jesus. No matter what happens to me physically, emotionally or otherwise, until the Lord says it is time, I am not going anywhere. Just one more for Jesus I pray.

Michelle, you are the greatest example of a Christian I have come to know as a friend. As I was reading your article, I was reminded of a great Cherokee woman warrior and leader. Her English name was Nancy Ward. Her attitude and life outlook was like yours. Would that every Christian could see through your eyes and believe as you do. You are strong in the Lord. God bless you, my friend! Walk in peace.Respond to this comment
