Fatal Effects of False Security
And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath disclosed to me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up to her and brought money in their hand. And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him. And she said, the Philistines are upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he knew not that the LORD had departed from him. But the Philistines took him and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison-house. (Judges 16:18-21)
See the fatal effects of false security. Satan ruins men by flattering them into a good opinion of their own safety, and so bringing them to mind nothing, and fear nothing; and then he robs them of their strength and honor, and leads them captive at his will. When we sleep our spiritual enemies do not. Samson's eyes were the inlets of his sin, (Judges 16:1) and now his punishment began there. Now the Philistines blinded him, he had time to remember how his own lust had before blinded him. The best way to preserve the eyes is, to turn them away. Take warning by his fall, carefully to watch against all fleshly lusts; for all our glory is gone, and our defense is departed from us, when our separation to God, as spiritual Nazarenes, is profaned.
When we allow someone or something to cause us to be mis-led we do and will pay for our sins. It can be inordinate affection, it can be lust of the flesh and this does cover more than sexual desires. Our turning away can even be caused by others if we allow it to. Husbands and wives not living according to God's Word because of stubbornness or willful disbelief t0 fit their plight, thus making the spouse feel neglected or causing them to turn away and then blaming them for doing what they caused them to by their lack of true commitment. Friends, business partners, jealous, envious and more when people get this way as they lessen their walk with God they become weak and they in turn cause their own blindness just as Samson did.
In what we do especially to those closest to us we must be ever so careful to follow God's Word 100% and not waiver out of selfishness or unbelief. If we follow our "education" that we have received by the world by our parent's by our past we will never be what God intends us to be. We see people in all walks of life that take much care with the temporal things as if they are going to be eternal houses, animals, cars, finances and more. They will buy book after book make phone call after phone call and for what? A temporal object or thing This is something that comes between God and man and man can not have the right relationship to God as long as these things press on them and cause them to be more determined to do that than serve Him who died for us.
How often we forget what Christ did and the amount of suffering until we get in a corner, then we call out to Him as if we are a lost babe. God gave us a book to plan our lives by and so many times people forfeit that for their own way or they do not want to believe scripture but rather think that someone else is twisting it for their benefit when they are corrected by it. Let me tell you friend if you do not listen to the Word of God and if you do not follow His planned map you will wind up with your eyes plucked out. Quit your whining, quit making excuses and make time for His Word. You got time to get a self help book(lies in hard cover), you make time to "cook" right, you care for things as if they were children, you invest in stocks hoping for a boom..
You better invest in and make time for God, else the boom that you find may be when you hit the bottom of the pit and what you are cooking may be your eternal soul and what you care for as children will disappear with time and you will be blind, alone and in trouble.
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; lewdness, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In which ye also walked formerly, when ye lived with them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: (Colossians 3:5-10)
