When you think of the plants you want in your garden and surrounding your home, you most likely attempt to create something that no one else in your neighborhood has ever seen. Everyone wants to be different. However, there are some staples in gardening, such as the black willow tree, that should be considered, despite their popularity and commonality.

This tree is popular for planting in yards, parks and other outdoor areas because it provides excellent shade and is one of the first trees to bud in the spring, providing already well-developed sources of shade once the intense heat of summer begins to bear down.

In addition to being popular for shade, the black willow tree is also a popular wood used in furniture-making due to its strength and the beauty of the wood composition. It is also frequently used in door making and millwork and is also used for making barrels and boxes. In recent history, the wood from this tree was also used to make artificial limbs, before they were made of steel alloys and plastics.

This tree is the only willow tree that is important to commercial industries, mostly because it is the largest of the species and can achieve nearly one-hundred and forty feet in height during its lifetime-however, most of these trees achieve a "measly" seventy to eighty feet in height.

While most of these trees exist predominantly in the eastern United States including Maine, Michigan and Minnesota; Canada throughout New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario; and in the southern United States near Florida and Georgia through northern Mexico along the Pecos River, it is often considered to be of the same variety as a type of black willow tree that grows in the western United States.

If you are planting these trees, whether for commercial or domestic purposes, it is important to ensure the soil is wet all the time-the type of soil does not typically matter to these trees, as long as they have a constant supply of water available to them.

In addition, gardeners should be aware of the potential problems that may arise when cultivating groups or even individuals of these trees. The black willow tree is susceptible to a wide variety of diseases and pests. The most serious of the diseases this plant may face are cankers and bores, which have been known to cause the death of entire branches on a tree!

Fortunately, this tree is a hardy, fast growing, and quickly recovering plant and it can overcome diseases and stunts to its growth in record time as compared to other trees, even in its own family.

If you are searching for a tree that will provide shade while maintain its stature without being susceptible to early death, and that also does not need significant attention for health and growth, the black willow tree , as popular as it may be, is the best choice. www.tnnursery.net
