CompTIA Network Plus Training At Home Simplified

by Jason Kendall

In the UK today, industry would be severely hampered if it weren't for support workers mending PC's and networks, while advising users each and every day. Our requirement for such qualified and commercially astute members of the workforce is constantly growing, as commercial enterprise becomes significantly more computer dependent.

Getting into your first IT role can feel more straightforward with a Job Placement Assistance facility. The fact of the matter is it isn't a complex operation to land the right work - assuming you're well trained and qualified; the shortage of IT personnel in Britain looks after that.

Ideally you should have CV and Interview advice and support though; and we'd encourage all students to work on polishing up their CV the day they start training - don't procrastinate and leave it until you've qualified. You might not even have got to the exam time when you land your first junior support position; but this can't and won't happen if interviewers don't get sight of your CV. In many cases, a local IT focused employment agency (who will get paid by the employer when they've placed you) is going to give you a better service than a division of a training company. Also of course they should know the area and local employers better.

To bottom line it, as long as you focus the same level of energy into getting a position as into studying, you won't have any problems. Some people curiously invest a great deal of time on their training course and then just stop once they've passed their exams and would appear to think that businesses will just discover them.

Many trainers only provide office hours or extended office hours support; not many go late into the evening (after 8-9pm) or cover weekends properly. Locate training schools where you can access help at all hours of the day and night (even if it's early hours on Sunday morning!) You'll need direct-access to qualified mentors and tutors, and not access to a call-in service which takes messages - so you're waiting for tutors to call you back at a convenient time for them.

The very best training providers have many support offices across multiple time-zones. By utilising an interactive interface to provide a seamless experience, at any time you choose, there is always help at hand, without any problems or delays. Never ever take second best where support is concerned. Most students who fall by the wayside, are in that situation because they didn't get the support necessary for them.

Being a part of progressive developments in new technology really is electrifying. You personally play your part in shaping the next few decades. We're at the dawn of beginning to understand how all this will mould and change our lives. The way we communicate and interact with everyone around us will be profoundly affected by technology and the web.

Should lifestyle be around the top on your list of priorities, you will appreciate the fact that the average salary for IT employees in general is noticeably better than with other market sectors. It's evident that we have a significant national need for certified IT specialists. Also, with the constant growth in the marketplace, it is likely there will be for the significant future.

A ridiculously large number of organisations are all about the certification, and avoid focusing on what it's all actually about - getting yourself a new job or career. Your focus should start with the end in mind - don't get hung-up on the training vehicle. It's not unheard of, in many cases, to find immense satisfaction in a year of study only to end up putting 20 long years into a career that does nothing for you, entirely because you stumbled into it without some quality research when it was needed - at the start.

Be honest with yourself about how much you want to earn and what level of ambition fits you. This will influence which particular qualifications you'll need to attain and what'll be expected of you in your new role. It's worth seeking guidance from a professional who knows the commercial realities of the market you're considering, and will be able to provide 'A typical day in the life of' type of explanation for that career-path. This is of paramount importance because you need to know whether or not you've chosen correctly.

Commercial qualifications are now, undoubtedly, taking over from the traditional academic paths into IT - but why should this be? The IT sector now recognises that to learn the appropriate commercial skills, certified accreditation from companies such as Microsoft, CISCO, Adobe and CompTIA is closer to the mark commercially - at a far reduced cost both money and time wise. Higher education courses, for instance, become confusing because of too much loosely associated study - with a syllabus that's far too wide. Students are then held back from understanding the specific essentials in enough depth.

The bottom line is: Accredited IT qualifications give employers exactly what they're looking for - the title says it all: as an example - I am a 'Microsoft Certified Professional' in 'Planning and Maintaining a Windows 2003 Infrastructure'. So companies can identify just what their needs are and which qualifications are required to perform the job.
