People Not Replying To Your Emails? Try This!

by Memories(16)

Email marketing is tricky because of spam, spam filters and busy people who get tons of unsolicited emails everyday. Have you ever sent an email proposal to someone and they just flat ignored you? Have you ever ignored emails yourself?

Aside from the fact that  spam filters may have blocked your message, let's assume they did receive it but just plain ignored you.  Perhaps you emailed a Joint Venture proposal and never heard back.

Here are a few reasons why email recipients might not reply to your email::

  1. Liability. Some people might be afraid of where their response is going to end up.
  2. They are too busy and don't see a benefit in replying.
  3. They don't know you.
  4. They don't want to buy whatever it is your selling.
Think about it. If emails recipients do not see a clear and immediate benefit, they're unlikely to acknowledge your email.

Or...
It could be the style of the email or the message itself.

Try something like this in the body of your message:

"Jim,  I noticed something about your recent article. If you want me to tell you why, drop me a reply."

Be careful not to trick them with something like "Urgent" or "Emergency" or something like that.

Learn more about the person and their business. Find out what they like. For example, if the targeted recipient is a golfer, you may need to approach him with something related to golf. He's more likely to open your email if it relates to something he likes.

You could send him a brief article, a web site link and then include your brief  sales message appended to it or as a follow up message.

The most important part of the email is the subject line. Make it catch, unsual and interesting.
