The Far Horizon

I took to publishing as an extension of my classroom activity. The results have been genuinely amazing. Such as when a young man shared with me that he along with others had become aliennated from the traditional church, and decided to put together something thought to be more creative. They opted for two books, coupled with the Bible, to guide them in their efforts. I had authored one of those books; which, incidently, did not sell well. Even so, under the circumstances, I felt eminently rewarded.
Now that I am retired for the third time, I can give more attention to writing. Two texts have been released this current year
: Pain As a Means of Grace
and Space/Time Odyssey. As for the fromer, it considers the potential of pain for spiritual growth. As for the latter, it provides a Christian perspective of the space/time continuum.
Persons sometimes inquire where I get the inspiration for writing. As a rule, I imagine a composite individual with whom I try to communicate. The prime exception was
Devotions with David: A Christian Legacy, which was more along the line of self-reflection.
They say that experience is the best mentor. In this regard, I have been especially aided by leading study tours to the Holy Land on five occasions, and living in Jerusalem for four years. A first hand acquaintance with the land has been quite helpful in better understanding Scripture, as has interaction with those descended from the patriarchs and prophets.
It is common for persons knowing my background in Christian higher education, and perhaps familiar with some of my writing, to ask all sorts of related questions. I try to answer as candidly as possible, while recognizing my limited understanding. I have heard it said that the more one knows, the more one realizes he or she does not know. That has certainly been my experience.
Life is good, accordingly to Biblical teaching, providing that we live it according to his instructions. Ah, there is the rub! All things considered, may the Lord richly bless you.
