Oh, So It's All Just a Joke to You ...

In the years that I have been alive, I have never seen any President laugh at nearly every question he is asked. These quotes are directly off a transcript of President Obama's 60 Minutes interview with Steve Kroft.
STEVE KROFT: Your Treasury Secretary's plan... Geithner's plan, and-- your plan really-- for solving the banking crisis-- was met with very, very, very tepid response. And you had a lot of people criticize... a lot of people said they didn't understand it. A lot of people said it didn't have any-- enough details to-- to-- to solve the problem. I know you're coming out with something-- next week on this. But these criticisms were coming from people like Warren Buffett, people who had supported you, and you had counted as being your--
PRESIDENT OBAMA: And-- and-- and-- and Warren still does support me. But I think that understand Warren's also a big player in the financial markets who's a major owner of Wells Fargo. And so he's got a perspective from the perspective of somebody who-- is part owner of a bank. You've got members of Congress who've got a different perspective. Which is, "We don't want to spend any more taxpayer money. You've got-- a whole host of players, all of whom may have a completely different solution. (LAUGHS) Right?"
PRESIDENT OBAMA: People want a lot of contradictory things. You know, the-- the-- the banks would love a lot of taxpayer money with no strings attached. Folks in Congress, as well as the American people, would love to fix the banks without spending any money. (LAUGHS) And so at a certain point, you know, you've got just a-- a very difficult line-- to-- to walk.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: I just want to say that-- the only thing less popular than putting money into banks is putting money (LAUGHS) into the auto industry. So--
STEVE KROFT: 18 percent are in favor.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: (LAUGHS) That's--
STEVE KROFT: Seventy-six percent against.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: It-- it-- it's not a high number.
STEVE KROFT: You're sitting here. And you're-- you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, "I mean, he's sitting there just making jokes about (LAUGHTER) money--" How do you deal with-- I mean, wh-- explain -
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well--
STEVE KROFT: --the mood and your laughter.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Yeah, I mean, there's got to be--
STEVE KROFT: Are you punch drunk?
PRESIDENT OBAMA: No, no. There's gotta be a little gallows humor to (LAUGHS) get you through the day. You know, sometimes my team-- talks about the fact that if-- if you had said to us a year ago that-- the least of my problems would be Iraq, which is still a pretty serious problem-- I don't think anybody would have believed it. But-- but we've got a lot on our plate. And-- a lot of difficult decisions that we're going to have to make.
When the President of the USA laughs so frequently that the person who is interviewing him needs to ask him why his mood is so...jolly...and why he is taking these serious matters so lightly, that is a real problem. Punch drunk? I can tell you why he laughs. He laughs because these questions and issues are over his head. Not only are they over his head, but the actual "answers" are not something people would ever want to hear. If he thinks it is reassuring, it's not.. It's just a little creepy.
His agenda may be very crooked, but I can tell you something, he's got nerve. He has got nerve to say that people want the banks to be fixed without spending money. Without spending money? He has spent billions upon billions of dollars! It will be trillions! And you say we're not spending money? We have spent money. Immeasurable amounts of money. It is staggering. Where he's right is most of that money is not going to fixing anything it is going to earmarks and reseeding the National Mall and motorcycles and polar bears and everything we don't need that doesn't produce jobs. Or do anything for the economy. He talks about "oh yeah it is going to be full of building infrastructure and jobs..."- I believe I read that 3% of the trillion dollar bailout really went to infrastructure. He says he doesn't want to spend anymore taxpayer money? Really? It has nothing to do with not wanting to! It has to do with the fact that there is none to be had. Look Mr. President, you've got a trillion dollars to come up with. Why don't you take a few billion off of that before you start trying to put it into other things. Don't get me wrong, fellow citizens...Mr.. Obama is my Commander in Chief. I try to respect him. It is my American duty. I place the blame for some of these things just as much on Congress and even a few members of my own party as much as I do President Obama. I could be like those who had zero, I mean zero respect for President Bush, or for that matter this nation. What I find difficult to understand about those people though is that if you don't like the country, or the people, or the President- Why. Won't. You. Leave. Canada is right across the border. They have everything you like there. Enjoy.
Think about what will really happen to America if the government can simply put a stop to any business it deems unnecessary or unproductive. We really will be socialist. They control how much money you can make, what you can do, what businesses you can have, what your kids can and can't learn in school, your security, your well being...does that sound socialist to you? Does that even sound possibly communist to you? It does to me. And to be honest, that scares me.
Any economic down turn America faces, I believe they can get out of. For sure. What I don't think America can do is spend and socialize its way out of trillions of dollars of debt. You would think it would be common sense, right? Look at all our socialized programs. How many of those were successful? Social Security? Bankrupt! Half of them back in FDR's day were ruled unconstitutional. But that was back when the Supreme Court actually ruled things unconstitutional. Socialized healthcare? That's doomed from the start. Look at all the other countries in the world that have socialized healthcare/medicine- how happy are they with it? I have a friend that lived in England for the better part of her life that said she would literally travel to neighboring countries for healthcare. Good doctors can't make good money nor can they give their patients the individual care they deserve and the excellent quality of care that for the most part we are used to here in America because of the socialized healthcare programs.
All I can say at this point right now as I write this is that it is nap time for me because I tired of all of this. It is really getting ridiculous. I do not know exactly where we are headed or what exactly will happen-
But...
....I never thought I would see the day when the New York Times criticized Obama.
Maybe there really are flying pigs somewhere that I don't know about...
