Free Motorcycle Riding Tip From Motorcycle School
by
Rich Lafferty(1)
Hello, I would like to share a Free Tip with you to help you ride your motorcycle safer, faster, and in more control.
I am Rich Lafferty I have been riding and racing for twenty years. I have been a motorcycle school instructor for six years.
I really enjoy helping people ride their motorcycle faster and safer. I have worked with students of all ages, and skill levels.
As far as the free tip, one of the things I have noticed long ago that students do that limits their speed is that they do not look far enough ahead. They look directly in front of their front fender. This limits their speed accordingly.
The faster you go the further ahead you must look. Riding in the woods or on a track the ground and terrain is constantly changing, and the faster you go the faster these obstacles and terrain changes are coming at you, so you must be ready to react. Think of it as a boxer, if you stood there with your head down without looking up, you wouldnt be ready for what your opponent threw at you.Same thing with riding a motorcycle you must look up and ahead and be ready for what the course is throwing at you. So when you come out of a corner look ahead as far as you can to the next corner. Now if there is an obstacle in that straightaway, such as a log, then yes focus on the log/obstacle and deal with the log. Look at the log/obstacle then beyond it. Do not fixate on the log/obstacle. So now when you practice remember to get in the habit of looking as far ahead as possible. Something else that students do to limit their vision is they run their visor too low.
So loosen the center screw on your visor and push it up as far as it can go. This will make it easier to look as far ahead as possible.
So remember to practice looking as far ahead as possible. This will definately help you increase your speed, and ride safer. Do not fixate on obstacles, meaning stare at them. Look beyond the obstacle, because that is where you want to end up. I hope I have helped you increase your speed and control on your motorcycle.I have been teaching motorcycle riding schools for six years and this is one of the most common things I notice.
As said before I really enjoy helping people ride faster and safer, and over a year ago I wanted to try and reach more people, so in February of 2008 we at Rich Lafferty Riding Schools we went online.
