Evidence that Bush Had Been Warned about 9/11, But Did Nothing About it

by Coddie Adwar
The Coyote Report

In October of 2000, al-Qaeda managed to blow a 40 ft by 40 ft hole in the side of USS Cole while it was at port in Yemen . The terrorists were seeking a military confrontation with the United States, but the Cole bombing did not bring that result. Less than a year later, al-Qaeda operatives were positioning themselves inside the United States, preparing an attack of much larger scale. Al-Qaeda's plans were partially intercepted by US intelligence, sifting through the chatter of electronic intercepts. An al-Qaeda operative, referring to the failure of the Yemeni attack to produce the desired reaction, was overheard saying: "Don't worry; we're planning something so big now that the U.S. will have to respond "

At the time, Judith Miller, a Pulitzer Prize winning reporter then employed by New York Times, was working on an in-depth article about the al-Qaeda network. She says that during the weekend immediately preceding July 4th 2001 (two months before the 9/11 attacks) officials within the White House's Counter-terrorism Agency were trying to alert the president and other senior officials, but had decided to leak their concerns since they were being listened to.

CBS News reported, on July 26 2001, that the FBI had determined that the threat was serious enough to prompt enhanced security measures for certain officials. By August, the FBI knew that the pending attack would involve airplanes.

By early August 2001, the CIA had developed enough clarity about the threat to specifically warn the President. They titled their Presidential Daily Briefing for August 6, 2001; "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S" in the hope that the president would be concerned enough to energize the governmental agencies responsible for security to attend to the specifics and head off the attack. President Bush, who spent an estimated 42% of his first year vacationing on or in transit to or from his ranch in Crawford, Texas, was not pleased by the in person intrusion of the CIA agent who was sent to present the analysis. Bush glared at the CIA briefer and the snapped: "All right, you have covered your ass". When the agent cleared out, the President went back to fishing and working on a speech about the stem-cell research, putting the CIA's warning in the distant back of his mind. Source: Ron Suskind, "The One Percent Solution".

As far back as 1995, Philippine police in Manila had uncovered an al Qaeda related plot to hijack commercial airliners and fly them into American buildings. The plan was named "Project Bojinka" and the World Trade Center was specifically mentioned as a target. This information was turned over to U.S. Intelligence, but no preventive measures were ever ordered, even though the CIA was informed the attack would involve airplanes

The attacks of 9/11 have helped authoritarian countries increase their control over their people and countries they are fighting, under the pretext of defending themselves against terror. It also helped the Bush administration impose measures that greatly expanded the Federal government's control over the American population. The attacks also provided an excuse to start the 2003 War on Iraq . But as the American people became aware that the Bush administration had misrepresented the facts used to take America into that Iraq war, they lost a significant degree of trust in their own government. That led to further questions about the 9/11 attacks and fueled the 9/11 conspiracy movement at the heart of which are the lies of the Bush Administration and the reasonably resulting distrust of the American people.

It was George W. Bush's incompetence, not clever design, that allowed the 9/11 attacks to take place. The tragedy could likely have been prevented had his administration attended to the numerous danger signals preceding those attacks by mustering the surveillance already in place and increasing the airport security measures. There certainly remain a number of strange coincidences and unexplained phenomena relevant to the 9/11 attacks, but the assertion that they could have been an inside government job strains credibility. It would have been insane, even for an administration as misguided as that of George W. Bush's, for his neocons to have orchestrated such an event, because the level of organization necessary for such acts would inevitably have leaked and led to the destruction of the Republican Party forever. Although George W. Bush did manage to implode Republican prospects in general, it is important for the country as a whole to focus its attention on the serious challenges left his wake. Toward that end, Congressional investigations of the Bush/Cheney years would be most appropriate.

hi coddie,

this information is sickening, although my partner and i have known for some time that they are, indeed, fact.

how this could have gone on, and nothing done to Bush, will always be beyond me. how he sleeps at night, is also beyond me, for many reasons. maybe his obvious lack of intelligence doesn't enter into his thoughts, therefore not allowing him to feel the guilt he should. i only caught small excerpts of him speaking while channel surfing, but i noticed one very prominant thing: he never made it through a single sentence making any kind of sense.

i think he should be held accountable for what he ignored, and therefore, allowed to happen.

thanks for sharing,

my best regards,

sue

Hi Sue, and thank you for writing a comment.  It is indeed sickening, if one thinks that Nixon's and Clinton's crimes are just a fraction of the ones committed by the Bush administration!  Congress was mostly spineless worrying too much about the elections of 08, and the few people like Kucinich and Wexler could not go far...

The most evil in the story are Cheney and Rove...and if they are allowed to avoid the Law and disregard the constitution, then they set a dangerous precedent that will allow future presidents to further erode our democracy. To preserve the sanctity of the American Constitution and prevent future presidents from ignoring the republic’s founding document, I want to hope, even though I doubt, that the Obama administration will do hearings.

God bless,
Coddie

May I disagree that somehow President Bush was responsible for 9-11. No one person or agency was responsible. The terrorists were.

If there was one failing, it was that no one in power believed that such an act of terrorism (flying planes into buildings) was possible. Add to that a law that prevented agencies from sharing information and you have a situation ripe for exploitation.

There were many mistakes made by many people in many agencies but many of those mistakes have been corrected.

We have not been attacked since President Bush and Congres took action to close holes in our nation's security.

Instead of pointing the finger of blame, give thanks!

Hi Jim:

Thank you for responding.  The reason we have not yet had another 911 type of attack is because they are waiting for the opportunity to pull out a bigger one.

According to former CIA agent Michael Schueur, an expert on bin Laden, al-Queda is not interested in small attacks, because they feel it would unite the American people.  They want to get the oportunity to pull in the future a major disabling attack such as sneaking an atomic bomb into an american city.

Al-Qaeda is still very dangerous to our security.

PS. The Presidential Daily Briefing of August 6, 2001 warning the President about al-Qaeda, is a public file that you can "google".

What does it matter? Surely I agree lives oculd have been saved. Yet that is not the issue and people are never the issue. Did we know about Pearl Harbor? Did the Indian government know about the recent attacks by boat? What I am trying to say is governments act when they want to or are forced to act and for their self interests. Evidently in each cae the information was weighed and determined as not significant. Wrong perhaps but it is meaningless today to the events that have since transpired. If we look at everythingt hat is going on today we find fault. yet it is ignored, fact. I sincerely appreciate your efforts but unfortunately in my opinion you are a voice without sound in this society. I find myself many times in the same place. It is isn't right, just reality. Best wishes.

Hi Robert, and thank you for responding.  What does it matter???  Possibly you would not respond the same if you were related to one of the WTC victims, or if you are a victim yourself of the bio-chemical terroristic attack we will probably face in a few years, according to Cogressional Report!!  The CIA and the NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY had information about the attacks, and according to credible resources, they could not get proper attention from the Bush administration!!!  They knew by August that the attacks will involve airplanes.  They should had at least MADE AN EFFORT to impose more secure measures at the airports, but the did not.

When WE,THE PEOPLE, let "governments act when they want to" we set precedence that  jeopardizes our republic, and allow future presidents to impose their own agenda disregarding our constitution and the interests of the Amrican people.  Nobody expects perfection, but at least an attemp to do the right thing.  I am sure if you had done such a lousy job, your employer would had fired you by now!  It is the fatalistic attitude of the American citizens, who now struggle more than ever to make a living, that Bush has not been impeached.  But we still have a voice and let us not forget the republic is "for the people by the people".

In the long run, most of us make as much difference as we decide to.

Coddie you seemed to have missed the entire point. I was agreeing with you. Yet I must say it is not Bush alone and in that we fail miserably. It is a government comprised of the same types who have done little to nothing for We the People.  Certainly to save life above all things goes beyond saying but to expect these politicians, this supposed new bunch or any of them to act only when they want to is unrealistic. Sorry I could have said it more directly but I thought you would comprehend what I was getting at.

..and I agree with you. We should hold serious investigations for ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!!

PS.  Kucinich was collecting signatures.  Wexler and a few others needed our support.  We just need to support our congressmen who want to speak the truth (even if they may belong to another party)

Great article, Coddie. It is a shame that it takes such a terrible tragedy to open the eyes of an entire nation.

I hope there will be serious investigations going forward. There was too much corruption in this administration. The economy is in the tank thanks to them. I always knew they would take the money and run.

This is a very good piece of journalism. Supporting evidence, with sources--I like this very much.

Strange that terrorists not only planned "an attack of much larger scale" than the U.S.S. Cole, they actually pulled it off flawlessly...with help from Cheney, and a thanks to Bush. The evidence left out of the 9-11 Commission Report is truly more compelling than the drivel published between its pages.
