Christianity is the largest religion in the world for many distinct reasons. One of the reasons is that the promise of salvation is very inviting for many of its believers. In spite of the absurdity of this world and all its troubles, people still have the grace of God and the promise of resurrection to look forward to. Another reason could be the amazing art that this great religion has inspired, which is evident in almost every Renaissance and Baroque piece that you see. And the third reason would most definitely have to be because of the beautiful music.
Christianity and Jesus Christ has inspired the best music of all time. From Bach and Mozart, a whole new breed has taken over the mantle of worshiping the Holy Trinity with their music. These are the great Christian bands of our time. Here are a few examples of them:
l Switchfoot: This alternative rock band from San Diego has taken the music world by storm as of late with their unique breed catchy tunes and Christian sentiments. They have attained mainstream status with a bang with their soundtrack to 2002's 'A Walk to Remember'. Their album entitled 'The Beautiful Letdown' was released soon after much to the delight of fans everywhere.
l Sixpence None The Richer: Who on this world doesn't remember the smash hit known as 'Kiss Me' that propelled this group to superstardom? With their Nashville heritage and a name inspired by the immortal CS Lewis, there seems very little in intelligent pop music that this group cannot do. This Grammy-nominated group just proved with their success that they and Christian music are here to stay.
l As I Lay Dying: Another band hailing from San Diego but this time with a much heavier sound is the metalcore band As I Lay Dying. They have topped rock charts with their single 'An Ocean Between Us' and don't seem to be stopping anytime soon. The unique combination of melody and heaviness makes this band a definite favorite.
